Our Anchorage House

September 20, 2022 by Lauren 5 Comments

I am currently sitting on the floor propped up against our 30+ year-old refrigerator, named “The Admiral”, in our new to us, 100 year old craftsman bungalow. The story of what has us here is completely God’s loving kindness toward us. It’s a story I am looking forward to telling on this platform. Bits and pieces that I hope encourage you to not lose hope in your circumstances.

I love writing and I hope to bring value to you in a genuine way. Actually, I love writing so much that I’ve been paying for a domain and hosting site for almost three years but was too chicken to post anything. So, if analysis paralysis with a heavy dose of perfectionism resonates with you, stick around there’s more where that came from! If it doesn’t, please stick around! We overthinkers need you!

If you hang out here long, you’ll likely read about DIY projects, baking, wellness and fitness coupled with me raging against diet culture (it’s complicated). You might read of budgets and living intentionally, adoption and traveling with kids. Book recommendations, coffee and recipes and CHRISTMAS!

There may be heavier topics as well. Such as how our family is healing after trauma and some thoughts on walking through grief and child loss. But in all things, trying to soak in the goodness and beauty of God.

This blog is called “Our Anchorage House” because after years of traveling, international living and a global pandemic, a home to anchor our family is exactly what we need. Not just a house to remodel. We need a home to anchor ourselves and a community to root into. A place of belonging to welcome others into and pour ourselves out of.

And so here we are. In a town we had no intentions of moving to, in a house with kitchen appliances older than my husband and I, sleeping on air mattresses in our dining room because ummm renovations go like that sometimes.

….and yet it feels undeniably like home.

I hope you’ll join us as we make this house a home. As we learn to put down roots and make this home a place of belonging for our family and others.

Welcome to Our Anchorage House, I’m so glad that you’re here!

-Lauren
