Loving the life we have while building our dreams.
We have lived in a lot of beautiful places, but we are so happy to be making a home in this little house.
My name is Lauren, and I’ve had a long-time dream to start a blog. I quietly did so in September of last year. I was waiting to announce it or promote it until I had my brand niched down and all the stars aligned. But that’s not how my year has gone.
My grandmother’s death last Spring came as a total shock, and I’ve spent the past year grieving with my family, managing her estate and trying to reclaim my health. It’s been my privilege to be the executor of her estate and I could not have done it without the help of my family. I had begun working on my blog while we were staying at her house. I took Lisa Bass’ masterclass and then I bought Lisa’s Create Your Blog Dream course and worked on it through the winter. My grandma was 92 and did not really have a concept of blogging or Pinterest but she was always supportive. After she died, I had so much to do that I just stopped writing. But then last September, on my grandma’s first birthday in Heaven, I quietly published my first blog.
Now that her house is sold, and the majority of my work with the estate is done, I plan to get this rolling.
Though I really haven’t “niched down” this blog/brand yet, it will largely be my actual life and the things I am passionate about including but not limited to:
- DIY and home remodeling, on a budget: A single income, SAHM budget. Read more here.
- Education: We home school but it’s not my whole personality, ya know?
- Whole Health: I believe real food is medicine and that it’s the most affordable form of health care and prevention. I believe God created us as whole humans: body, mind and soul, and that there is rarely a one size fits all approach to health. I also love fitness and an active lifestyle. That being said, I will never tell you that almond milk, cocoa powder and stevia is going to taste like a “Wendy’s Frosty Dupe”.
- Medical Freedom
- Intentional living
- Tech Safety
- Adoption
- Travel
- Christmas
- Hospitality
- SURVIVNG THIS WILD INFLATION!
The real driving force behind this blog is to share how we are
loving the life we have while building our dreams.
My husband and I are in our mid-thirties. We have a beautiful life, but we’ve also endured some deep heartache and despite our very best efforts, unrealized dreams. Sometimes we look around and feel like we are “behind”. I know we aren’t the only ones. Inflation is high, money is tight. I’m going to share tangible ways we are staying afloat, beauty in the seemingly mundane and how despite what culture says, contentment is possible and powerful.

I’m still new to this, so in the event that my email button is not working…please email me at ouranchoragehouse@gmail.com and I will add you to the list.

Thanks so much for sharing a bit about your journey! I also purchased Lisa’s course about two years ago now, and then got sidetracked for awhile. I’m trying to make an intentional effort at relaunching it as well. I appreciate your honesty and so resonate with your approach to sharing about the process you and your husband are on along the way. As a fellow mid-30er, I SO get feeling “behind” in many ways compared to past generations or even some of our peers. I look forward to checking in on your blog and seeing your progress. Also, I too keep a note in my phone for Christmas gift ideas for each person in our family and buy them throughout the year! When I read that post, it was like you were describing me 🙂 Keep up the good work!
Thank you so much! I have really enjoyed Lisa’s course, I will check out your blog!
