I will have a lot of things to write on this in the coming weeks. I’m still processing all the God has done in the last 6 weeks. But I want to share this important and fun detail with you that will forever remain one of my anchors of faith.
As many of you know, we have been in some form of the adoption for the past 12 years. We adopted our oldest and pretty immediately started the process again. Then we experienced preterm labor resulting in the death of our son, Brooks. We took a little break but then jumped back into the adoption space. It’s been a long road. We have taken more all-hours-of the-night phone calls than I can even count. We have said “yes” dozens of times over the past decade. This isn’t a pity party, it’s been the honor of a lifetime to be a glimmer of hope to birth mothers facing difficult circumstances.
But we were tired. So sometime in early Summer I prayed to God and told Him that I would love to get off this emotional roller coaster. Oron and I both prayed about it and really just surrendered it to God all over again. We really felt great peace and contentment no matter what happened. We would be thrilled to have another sweet baby to love or to walk into the teen years just us 3 amigos with our awesome kiddo. So we made a plan that we would finish well. We had about 10 weeks left on our contract and we would say “yes” until our contract was officially up. And come what may, we would move on with joy.
So after 12 years of anticipating, preparing, praying, crying, hoping and surrendering….
Our sweet Baby K was born, I kid you not, 1 day before our contract was up.
Praise to the King of Kings.
We are over the moon. I still can’t believe it.
I will never be able to thank our support system enough. Our friends and family were absolute prayer warriors. Not just for us, but for our son and his birth mother who has become a dear friend. God brought our families together in a match I could have only dreamed of.
Praise to our Father, the author of all good stories.
